NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications)

NVQs are work-based qualifications that relate to the everyday tasks of your job and demonstrate that you know why you are doing things in a particular way. A trained assessor will evaluate your ability in different aspects of your job – you don’t have to take any exams to be awarded an NVQ.

The NVQs that are most relevant for work in social care are:

  • NVQ in Health and Social Care
  • NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services

Your employer can advise you on which will be most suitable for you to take.

You can find details of all the external courses that are officially recognised in England on the National Database of Accredited Qualifications’ (NDAQ) website www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk
