Induction training usually takes place in the first 12 weeks of your new job, or the first 24 weeks if you are working in childcare. Its purpose is to give you the basic knowledge and skills that you need to do your job properly and safely.
The training is conducted to a national standard that is adapted to your place of work. Your manager will lead most of the training, but external trainers may be involved in some specialist areas.
Induction training lays the foundations for your work as a social carer and gives you the professional recognition that allows you to work towards the relevant National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) that will help you progress in your career.
