Gloria - Day Centre ManagerGloria studied for a diploma in Social Care at a local college after leaving school. "During the course I worked on placements with local social services departments, and my first full-time job was as a support worker with the transport team, collecting and returning visitors each day. As my experience and qualifications developed, I became an acting team leader at another day service unit, then came back here as the centre manager. I’m responsible for organising all the day-to-day activities here and providing leadership for staff and volunteers. I’m also responsible for buildings, equipment and budgets, which meant doing more Maths than I’d done at school. I now have NVQ "Registered Manager" qualifications and am an NVQ assessor, but the good thing is I’m still actively involved with our users." |
